12 TIPS FOR STAYING RESILIENT WITH COVID-19 LOOMING OVER US

Even when distressed, we must: 

  1. Create comfort 
  2. Stay calm 
  3. Listen actively 
  4. Breathe deeply 
  5. Acknowledge our emotional needs 
    • Attention
    • Acceptance 
    • Affection
    • Approval 
    • Acknowledgement 
    • Attachment Security 
  6. Make healthy choices 
  7. Be committed in social distancing 
  8. Connect emotionally, not physically 
  9. Be proactive, not reactive 
  10. Acknowledge and address our negative feelings 
    • Scared 
    • Angry 
    • Anxious 
    • Embarrassed 
    • Sad 
  11. Resolve them quickly with positive messages 
    • "Even though I am really scared right now, I can keep myself calm." 
    • If you are Catholic, say the Rosary. This is an excellent way to keep yourself calm. 
    • Praying, playing, and/or plunging into a task an help. 
  12. Remember, we are lovable, capable, and valuable. We can get through this!
